Once again, my coachee, the managing director of a traditional family business, had tried to tell her family about her innovative business ideas at their Sunday lunch. Like before, no one listened to her and her self-esteem had fallen to an all-time low: “What do I have to do to make everyone listen to me? We urgently need to modernize our company!”
Her future profession was already defined in my client’s cradle. As the first-born, she had been integrated into the long-established company from an early age on. She completed a classical apprenticeship, was trained in all stations of the company and completed several internships abroad.
The constant message from her parents was: “One day, when you are the head of the company, you must also bear all the responsibility. We expect you to represent our name well!”. This high expectation of her role and its dutiful fulfillment had shaped her to this day.
In our coaching, we were able to explore her personal desires for the first time. The analysis of her personality brought out her subtlety, creativity and excellent powers of observation and imagination.
